Vodafone Idea, India’s third largest service provider, has renewed partnership with Kyndryl for three years, to modernize it’s IT operations and strengthen its cyber resilience framework. The expanded agreement focuses on reducing manual interventions, improving operational agility and bolstering Vi’s ability to manage security threats at scale.
As part of the renewed contract, Kyndryl will develop and implement a comprehensive cyber resilience framework for Vi. The framework will encompass security governance, zero-touch services, data protection, identity and access management, and incident recovery. Kyndryl will also redesign Vi’s cybersecurity architecture to meet anticipated future regulatory requirements. The company said these enhancements will enable faster detection of vulnerabilities and quicker recovery of critical business data, improving the operator’s overall security posture.
Kyndryl will further deploy a next-generation IT operations delivery model built on automation and data-driven insights. This model is designed to help Vi transition to a zero-touch operations environment, streamline service delivery and reduce operational expenses. The transformation will include major improvements in backup and storage management, as well as continuous data protection to support Vi’s evolving network and customer needs.
Vi will continue using Kyndryl Bridge, the company’s AI-powered open integration platform that supports automation and IT estate observability. Kyndryl Bridge has already deployed more than 1,000 automations at Vi, cutting delivery event noise by 15 percent and producing over 15 million monthly AI-enabled insights. Globally, the platform supports more than 1,200 customers with predictive insights and automation capabilities.
Vi’s Chief Technology Officer, Jagbir Singh, said the renewed partnership aligns with the operator’s goal of building a resilient and intelligent IT backbone capable of supporting rapid innovation. Kyndryl India President Lingraju Sawkar noted that the extension reflects Vi’s confidence in Kyndryl’s expertise in managing mission-critical systems and complex transformation projects.
Kyndryl has played a central role in Vi’s previous technology transformations, including integrating the networks of Vodafone India and Idea Cellular during their merger, ensuring operations continuity during the COVID-19 pandemic and executing 26 consolidation projects to streamline business functions.
With the extended partnership, Vodafone Idea aims to better align its IT strategy with long-term business goals, accelerate digital service launches and enhance returns on technology investments as the telecom industry deepens its focus on automation, cloud, data and security-driven transformation.
