Tata Communications, a global communications technology company, has partnered with India’s state-owned service provider, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to enable the nationwide rollout of eSIM services.
BSNL’s eSIM services are powered by Tata Communications’ GSMA-accredited eSIM Subscription Management platform, Tata Communications MOVE™, delivered through its subsidiary, Tata Communications Collaboration Services Pvt. Ltd. (TCCSPL). The platform allows BSNL to remotely provision 2G, 3G, and 4G services via secure QR codes, eliminating the need for physical SIM cards. Users with dual-SIM devices can now conveniently combine a physical SIM with an eSIM, simplifying connectivity while travelling abroad.
“This partnership with BSNL enables secure, scalable, and future-ready eSIM services for millions of citizens, supporting India’s shift towards next-generation connectivity,” said A.S. Lakshminarayanan, MD & CEO, Tata Communications. “Together, we are laying the foundation for a more connected and resilient India.”
Robert Ravi, Chairman and Managing Director of BSNL, added, “The Pan-India eSIM launch marks a significant advancement in our national telecom capabilities. Leveraging Tata Communications’ expertise, we are enhancing mobile services’ flexibility, security, and efficiency, reinforcing our commitment to digital independence and robust telecom infrastructure.”
The launch aligns with the Government’s Digital India vision. While the initial rollout targets consumers, the MOVE™ platform is designed to scale for enterprise IoT applications, supporting digital transformation across Indian industries.
