Datadog Launches Tool to Cut Cloud Storage Costs

Datadog Inc (NASDAQ: DDOG), a cloud monitoring and security company, on Monday launched Storage Management, a new product aimed at helping businesses reduce waste and control spending on cloud object storage.

The tool, now generally available for Amazon S3 with previews for Google Cloud Storage and Azure Blob Storage, offers detailed insights into storage usage, detects anomalies in growth and access patterns, and provides actionable recommendations to optimize costs, Datadog said.

Rapidly growing data from AI workloads, including model training datasets and inference logs, has driven up cloud storage expenses, creating challenges for teams managing shared storage buckets. Datadog Storage Management addresses this by analyzing usage at the bucket and prefix level and offering guidance on data lifecycle, tiering, and deletion.

“For companies building AI products, data storage and processing is consistently the third-highest contributor to cost,” said Yrieix Garnier, Datadog’s VP of Product. “Storage Management empowers teams to prevent unexpected spend and focus on delivering products faster.”

The new product complements Datadog’s Cloud Cost Management platform and is designed to help organizations identify duplicate, infrequently accessed, or temporary data, enforce retention policies, and accelerate cost-saving measures.
