Zamani Telecom selects Hayo as exclusive A2P monetisation and SMS firewall partner in Niger

Zamani Telecom, mobile network operator in Niger, has appointed digital solutions provider Hayo as its exclusive partner for application-to-person (A2P) SMS monetisation and SMS firewall deployment, in a move aimed at tightening fraud controls and boosting messaging revenues.

Under the agreement, Hayo will deploy its A2P monetisation framework and SMS firewall platform across Zamani Telecom’s network to detect grey-route traffic, block fraudulent messaging flows and ensure that international A2P traffic is delivered through authorised, billable channels.

The partnership is designed to help Zamani Telecom — formerly Orange Niger — increase profitability from enterprise and over-the-top (OTT) messaging traffic while improving network security and delivery assurance for business-critical messages such as one-time passwords and service alerts.

Hayo said its SMS firewall system identifies and blocks A2P messages that are routed into the operator’s network through unofficial paths that bypass interconnect fees. By forcing traffic onto approved and whitelisted routes, operators can improve revenue capture and reduce leakages tied to bypass fraud.

The company will also introduce revised pricing and traffic management strategies intended to prioritise higher-value OTT and enterprise messaging segments. Hayo works with large global digital platforms and application providers — including major cloud and consumer tech companies — to enable compliant A2P message delivery into operator networks.

Zamani Telecom serves more than three million subscribers across Niger, providing mobile, fixed and internet services. The operator is positioning messaging security and enterprise traffic monetisation as part of its broader digital ecosystem strategy as demand grows for authentication, fintech and platform-driven communications.

Hayo executives said the engagement will include continuous testing and optimisation, including daily penetration tests to detect route bypass attempts, artificial inflation of traffic (AIT) detection, rules tuning and operator training. Test traffic will include simulated authentication and OTT-generated messages to validate routing integrity and billing accuracy.

The deal reflects a broader trend across emerging telecom markets where operators are tightening control over A2P SMS channels as messaging volumes grow alongside digital services adoption. With authentication and app-driven messaging now central to banking, e-commerce and social platforms, operators are increasingly investing in firewalls and monetisation platforms to secure margins and reduce fraud exposure.

For Zamani Telecom, the exclusive partnership model signals a shift toward managed A2P revenue assurance, where a specialist vendor handles traffic validation, partner onboarding and fraud mitigation as an integrated service layer rather than a standalone filtering tool.
